So you’ve decided to have a party and you know that beer needs to be on the drinks menu but that is about as far as you have gotten with the whole ‘party beer’ idea. With so many great beers to choose from, and knowing that everyone has different taste when it comes to their ales, the task of narrowing it down to just a few can be quite daunting. The following tips will help make the entire process that much easier, so you can spend less time worrying about whether your guests like the beers you chose, and more time being the fun-loving party host.
- Regardless of whether its winter or summer the last thing you want is to have a bunch of drunken friends on your hands when the night is over. Choosing low ABV beers will allow everyone to still enjoy the taste but not get drunk quickly. Make sure there is plenty of food on hand too.
- Don’t spend a fortune on drinks. Fortunately, there are plenty of good quality great tasting beers available that won’t cost you ‘an arm and a leg’. On the other hand do choose beers that are of decent quality rather than the cheapest you can find. Your guests are worth it.
- Choose a variety of beers so that no matter what your guests like there will be at least one that they are likely to enjoy. No need to choose a dozen or more; 5 or 6 should be plenty depending upon the number of guests. If having a more intimate gathering of people who love beer more than anything else you could choose to get a wider variety and have a beer tasting.
- Decide whether you want to offer beer in bottles, cans or mini-kegs. Prices vary between them and of course with bottles and cans you are looking at having to recycle the empties.
Once you have decided which container you want to buy the beer in it’s time to go shopping. If you still aren’t sure which ones to get you can do some research online before hitting the liquor stores or you can take a chance and wander the aisles looking at as many as a hundred different beers. Costco.uk has a great variety of both traditional beers and craft beers to choose from. Alternatively you could check out what Frodsham Brewery has to offer. Ask one of their friendly staff members to help you with your choices and they will see that you leave with some great party beers that are sure to please you and your guests.
